Organic Lawn Care

As the proud father of a very active toddler, I realize my daughter sees our lawn differently than I do. From her perspective our lawn is a vast new frontier to explore. It is my responsibility to make sure our lawn is a safe place for her to run, jump, dig, and play. For this reason I choose to use organic, non-toxic, eco-friendly fertilizers on my yard. The peach of mind knowing she's safe coupled with the assurance that my fertilizer is not harmful to the lakes, or our neighbor's pets, makes one look at our lush green lawn all the more satisfying! - Jesse
Organic Fertilizer
Produced nearby in Milwaukee, WI, Jesse's Lawn Care uses an organic fertilizer made up of microbes that have digested the organic material in wastewater. In this recycling process, the clean water returns to Lake Michigan while the microbes are dried resulting in an effective slow-release organic fertilizer. Providing nutrients to feed the lawn over an extended period of time, organic fertilizer promotes uniform growth, a deeper root system, and a thicker turf for your lawn.
Core Aeration
Core aeration is the removal of small plugs of soil from the lawn. Pulling these small plugs of dirt out of the soil creates holes in the lawn allowing for better absorption of water and fertilizer. This process also reduces soil compaction and enhances the root system of the lawn.
Lawns should be aerated annually, especially those with high-traffic areas that suffer from soil compaction or excessive thatch build-up. Core aeration provides the conditions necessary for the microorganisms in the soil to increase in activity and decompose the excess thatch. The ideal time for lawn aeration is the spring or fall seasons.
Top Dressing
Topdressing is the application a blended organic soil and compost mixture over the surface of turf grass. This adds organic material to the soil and can greatly improve lawns that have a high clay content. Not to mention the lawn (and any plants for that matter) crave the microbiology that it replenishes. Especially if you have sprayed you lawn in the past with synthetic weed killer, which in turn, kills off some of that important microbiology in the soil itself. Top Dressing combined with aeration is quite frankly, the best possible thing you could do for you lawn.
The Proper Height
Back to the basics, we cut the lawn the way it should be. Cutting the lawn at a higher height can, in itself, hinder weed growth and promote and much healthier root system resulting in a much thicker, greener, drought, pest, and disease resistant lawn. Cutting the lawn too short (like scalping the earth) can be extremely detrimental to your lawn health.
